Rod is an Emmy-award winning cinematographer based in Portland, Oregon, who is also a musician and self-taught artist. Concentrating on oil, acrylic, and mixed media painting since 2009, Rod’s artistic style conveys an eclectic mix of marks and symbols inspired by science, religion, sacred geometry, and nature.

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, the unique influences of the New Orleans vibrant music scene, festive Mardi Gras Indians, swamps, bayous, and the mystery of Voodooism have fueled Rod’s creative energy as a painter, along with his experiences traveling around the world telling visual stories for television through the lens of his camera.

Resonating with the Outside Art movement and the works of Carl Jung’s collective unconscious, Rod’s work descends into a personal underworld of the psyche. His art is constantly deciphering motifs, ancestral memories, and archaic remnants inherited within all of us, surfacing back to the conscious with messages of everlasting spirit, soul, and the deepest values.
